WINDY DAYS QUILT

You can really feel the breeze in this charming quilt, playfully blowing the girl’s hair and scarf and tossing leaves from the tree. The quilt has just one block, made in three different colourways, with the blocks separated by sashing. The fabrics are from the Windy Days, Chambray and Classic Basics collections. The block is a large one, 21in x 25.in (53.3cm x 64.8cm) unfinished, so it would be easy to make it for a matching cushion if you desire.

This colorful quilt uses kaleidoscope blocks to create an umbrella shape within each block. There are four blocks, all made the same way but in different colorways. The blocks are sewn together in rows in an edge-to-edge layout, which forms an intriguing illusion of curves throughout the design. The fabrics used are from the Windy Days and Chambray collections.

These lovely bags are so roomy that they are ideal for make-up or toiletries. They also look so smart that they make perfect gifts. Just three fabrics are used, and these are suggested, but of course you can use any Tilda fabrics.

LAZY GARDENERS QUILT

This is a really easy quilt, but so rewarding to make with such gorgeous fabrics. It is composed of simple Half-Square Triangle blocks made from fabrics from the Gardenlife and Chambray collections. The fabrics work together harmoniously and are arranged to form pleasing diagonal patterns across the quilt. The Gardenlife fabrics are so beautiful, with a wealth of botanical detail in the design that make each one a pleasure to use all on its own.

This fresh and festive quilt is perfect to celebrate the winter season and is a wonderful introduction to Tilda’s new Chambray range of fabrics. It looks complicated but in fact the techniques used are very easy ones and the blocks build quickly. A small amount of appliqué for the hearts and the addition of some colourful buttons complete this enchanting quilt.

The piecing needed for this quilt is straightforward but needs concentration; however, you will be delighted with the results, as the design is filled with cute animals having a fun time on their sledges. There are four blocks – a fox, small hare, large hare and squirrel – with each block in two colourways. A little paper-pieced appliqué creates cheeks and noses, while the eyes are formed by French knots.

The tractor motif in this quilt is such fun to make and its realistic shape is created with just a few easy patchwork techniques. There is one basic block, made in three different colourways, using fabrics from the Tiny Farm, Meadow and Solid collections. Sashing separates the blocks, allowing each tractor its own space, while the solid background fabric showcases the blocks beautifully.

Flowerpot Quilt

This gorgeous quilt is sure to become a treasured heirloom that will stand the test of time. There are nine flowerpot blocks, all made the same way, except that the pot fabrics vary. The appliqué technique uses paper pieces as patterns. Some of the appliqué motifs are fussy cut to feature specific areas of the fabrics, which creates a charming realism to the quilt.

Flowerpot Pillow

This pretty pillow is the perfect companion to the Flowerpot Quilt and uses the same fabrics (except for Fabrics 4 and 15). You could also make the pillow as a stand-alone project, and if you haven’t done any paper piece appliqué before, it’s the ideal project to practise this technique.

If you have made the Mosaic Butterflies Quilt, there are two pillow designs that will make the perfect companions. One pillow has a blue background, like the quilt, while the other pillow has a red striped background. Both pillows are made the same way but with different fabrics.

This unusual quilt is quite easy to make with some careful measuring and machine piecing. It uses a patchwork block with two facing birds and two similar blocks with single birds. The birds are a lovely solid blue fabric, which makes their shapes stand out from the rest of the patchwork.

This pretty pillow has been designed to match the Mosaic Birds Quilt, but it would be a lovely project to make on its own, perhaps as a gift for a friend. It uses just one Double Bird block that is made in the same way as the quilt.

You will need two fabrics for this pincushion. The top fabric is fussy-cut to create a distinctive pattern on top of the pincushion.

Adore you baby Quilt

Making projects for the little ones in your life couldn’t be easier using the Mix and Match blocks. This small quilt uses a Bee block, Bird block and Flower block to create a very pretty quilt. The blocks are described and illustrated in the collection of Mix and Match blocks, so refer to these instructions. The quilt uses a lavender pink solid background and salmon for the bird beaks but other than that it is identical to the grey version of the quilt

The quilt has a background of soft grey but you could change this to one of the other Tilda solid fabrics if you prefer.

Mix and Match Blocks

Four really useful patchwork blocks have been created for you to make a wide range of lovely items. There is a flower, a leaf, a bee and a bird for you to play with. Including their borders, the motifs all create blocks of the same size, 13in x 12in (33cm x 30.5cm), so it is easy to combine them and mix and match to your heart’s content. To provide ideas to get you going we have designed some quilts using these blocks – the Flower Meadow Quilt, the Flowers and Bees Quilt and the Adore You Baby Quilt. The quilts use fabrics mostly from the Happy Campers and Meadow Basics collections but you could easily use fabrics from other Tilda ranges

Brave tin soldier Quilt

This charming quilt is based on the poignant Hans Christian Andersen story of a steadfast one-legged tin soldier, who falls in love with a pretty ballerina. There are just two blocks in the quilt but the various parts of each block require many pieces to build up the various motifs that play a part in the story. Close attention to the diagrams and careful measuring will help you make a quilt that is sure to be treasured for years.

Cosy stripe Quilt

This quilt is very easy to make as it is just blocks of rectangles separated by strips of vertical sashing. The print rectangles can be cut from a fat eighth.

This fun quilt features bold flowers created using an easy Dresden wedge technique for the petals, plus a simple leaf block made from half-rectangle triangle units.
